One of the biggest questions we get after a snowfall like we just got is “Can you inspect in the snow?”. The answer is yes, we can. But there are some things to remember.
First of all, we live in New Hampshire, so we pretty much have to figure out a way to do just about anything in the snow. If we didn’t, everything would just come to a grinding halt 5-6 months out of the year.

Yes, you read that correctly. Snow on the ground can actually be a good thing. Snow limits obvious things like looking for soil and foliage changes, being able to find certain parts of the system faster, and other limitations.
But snow on the ground can have a few advantages too. First of all, snow insulates the ground from freezing as much. If the ground is frozen, then there are even times where the lid can’t be removed without damaging it.
The other advantage is melted and discolored snow can at times help us find effluent leaking in areas, or even the tank itself at times.
So if you need a septic inspection in the winter time, then you now know that while there are some limitations, there are also great advantages too.
