Flushing toilets have been around for hundreds of years, and it is really hard for us to imagine life without them. For those that have traveled to countries where they are less common, they probably have a renewed appreciation for this provision.

Even though toilets are fairly simple mechanisms, it is good to make sure that yours is in the best shape.

If your tank or bowl has cracks in it, it is a serious problem that could lead to water damage. You would most likely be best off to replace your toilet, if that is the case.

If your toilet constantly runs, this will waste a lot of water. You can check a few different things to resolve this. All seals need to be properly installed and in good repair. Check that the flushing assembly is properly mounted and that there is no debris in the tank that might prop it open causing the leak.
